Kripalu yoga derives from Kundalini yoga. Years of study by master teachers have adapted this rigorous Eastern practice to modern lifestyle. Kripalu means "being compassionate." From this place of compassion, we find ourselves in constant search for our edge. The perfect balance between acceptance and improvement. Three levels are common: gentle, moderate and vigorous vinyasa. Swami Kripalu said "In Kripalu yoga, the asanas, pranayama, and meditation, all happen simultaneously." This type of yoga reminds us to listen to our body and have fun with our practice. Xenia teaches yoga in Sacramento, CA.

Xenia's training draws from various yoga traditions. At the core is Kripalu yoga. Kripalu stands for "moving from a place of compassion." It is from this place that we use micro movements, breath, and body awareness to find our edge: the sweet spot between effort and surrender.

Why Practice Yoga?

Yoga offers the powerful opportunity to listen to the wisdom of our own bodies. Using something as simple as the breath (or as complex as prana) we learn to be quiet and listen, really listen. When you are open to this experience you know it because an exquisite feeling of freedom inundates your body. With no concern for context, nor past, nor future. No expectations. And, no room for judgment. A rush of presence.

As we cultivate more and more of these yoga moments, the mind becomes unattached, the heart softens, and we learn to connect with something higher than ourselves. From this place of inner peace, we practice and radiate love and compassion.

"LOVE is the first lesson. Love one another." - Swami Kripalu.
